“ Neither Oblivious nor Disinterested “

by Suzán Jiván Mom & Mom-Mom Suzán

Neither oblivious nor disinterested
like capturing the hoof prints
of a sheep in a performance piece
while observing The Sabbath
with the family gliding lightly
and uncritically seemingly
scrubbed of all ego yet still delivering
powerful scenes boldly speaking
saying, “The face is everything!”
replete with transfixing enticing features
reminders of violence and fear
sensing a hint of steel underneath
at least momentarily

via mixed blessings
like stacking the deck
with jokey wised-up menaces
as admirable sentiments
idling in a tanning bed
with pertinent thoroughbreds
being given proper mention
in relatively plain settings
deemed malevolent
upon becoming our best selves
amid picture-perfect art direction
rendered well with tender complexity

while sniffing the air intently
all along cliff ledges
feeling highly pleased
to an aesthetic sense
becoming subject
to personal preferences
subsonic and infrared
heat detection
much much better
than just plain yellow

only with fewer camels
and none of the romance
seen slogging
down hideously pock-marked
sole arteries
breeding horses and deer
taken to the extreme
retaliating accordingly

native to the region
accompanying the siege
over the course
of many many years
keyhole views recalled vividly
as every moving thing...
