It’s a matter of pride
to shoot at a tiger
with or without a license

shortly after dark gun racks and brackets
as some of the world’s largest cats
both rare and invaluable in kilos and grams

backups becoming unavailable
paws and gall bladders
all for naught getting collared

poach or starve automatic to single shot
life is hard and deeply ironic
yet courageous quixotically

love hate astonishment
straddling bodies of the subconscious
perhaps “Yes” perhaps “Not”
